That means the driver must close the mirror before turning off the ignition, A several second delay before opening the door after manually closing the mirror and turning off the ignition creates a hazard when opening the door. Now I can check the mirror immediately prior to opening the door. Much safer for driver and passing cyclists and vehicles.
